dont  think we have that much of it left here at home jeff , and if we did it would be sold on the world market  instead of being kept here.

dave  not  to long before i retired  the plant swiched  from propane  fueled  tow motors  to  natural gas ones  , i drove one ocasonally  if a  operator was off for the day  and ill tell ya they had shit for power  under load  compared to propane . the co converted  because  natural gas in ohio is cheaper than  propane . a natural gas  auto would be the last thing i would want to drive.Yeah, the majority of CNG powered cars I see, are either Honda Civics, Crown Vics (CNG) or MTA buses...

But, propane has been in use for a long, long time. Like I said, ya gotta bump the compression a bit to get the same power as gasoline...

Somethin' about BTU's comes to mind. But, I ain't sure...

It is very hard to understand why we don't produce our own oil...  Or even harder to understand why with all of our vast natural gas preserves why don't we just switch over to propane  and run it in our vehicles ?? Ok the conventional gas station pumps would be transformed into propane pumps,  No big deal there I can see.  Seems the big oil companys are ruling us poor peasents. And they will continue to as long as we let them.. We are like Sheep... just following along. We need to make a stand and all stop buying gas for about a week.

Ok my rant is over.... LOL!!

Have you checked out the cost to convert a car to propane? I've been thinkin' along those lines for years. But, the conversion cost is crazy! Here in Cali, its considered an "Alternative Fuel" and you get special treatment (single person in HOV lanes, etc) But, I can't swing the $$ (somewhere north of $3000) last time I checked to convert.

But, you have been able to buy CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) vehicles brand new, off most dealer lots for a long time. Fuel costs are about half of gasoline (a little harder to find a station) internals of the engines last longer, Oil stays cleaner, etc. There are a lot of benefits. But, you have to run higher compression in order to make the same horse-power...

Funny thing is, I see a bunch of GM "Flex-Fuel" vehicles around here. I've never seen a gas station that sells the "E85" here in this state. Might be some? None that I've ever seen. Wonder what all those folks had to pay for that "feature" on their new car?

3.73.9 today at Murphy, what I don't understand, BP here near home is 3.79.9, south of Raleigh, it is 3.69 or 3.64
only 2 kinds of gas I buy, as they are the only ones around here that are made from American oil.
