I think it has to do with transportation costs: they do not make as much for transport when the delivery point is closer to the tank farm, but they still have to pay the driver the same.
only reason I can come up with. Also, friend who is a tanker-yanker (gas delivery guy) said that is why.

Kangaroo Convenience store chain here in NC: 3.46 for regular where I live, 9 miles away in Raleigh, same store, 3.79 for regular.

2 BP stations within 4 miles of each other in Durham, 3.63 at one, 3.79 at the other, both for regular.

most amazing: closer you get to the tank farm in Selma NC, the more gas costs. I just do not get it.

When I was workin' in Long Beach, I was right near a BP refinery. There were a couple of BP stations in the area and they were normally, about 10-cents a gallon more than the ones near my house...

Never understood that...

87 octane was @ $3.41   this morning when I filled up at Sunoco.

What I hate is the cash vs credit pricing crap.....

dont have  any price difference here in ohio  between cash or card , my bitch is  pay before ya pump , gotta make 2 trips  to the  counter , and usually  stand in line both times .:( notice it more in the cities  than the small towns.
