NM is one of the worst states per capita in DUI's.  Taking licenses away don't do shit.  These morons drive with no licenses and no insurance anyway.  Honest to God, you read in the papers here every couple of monthd where some drunk killed someone and it turns out he has had a dozen or more DUI's.

Gotta put the MF's in jail for a long time to keep them off the road.

Our court systems are overflowing with lawbreakers!  Alot of places look at drunk drivers...as...well that isnt as bad as murder/rape/etc.  And its unfortunate.  Or they need the jail space for harder criminals.  Hey I woould rather have a rapist locked up than a drunk driver!  But your going to find, most guys that do get jail time....get out quickly.  And if they lose their license...they go ut and drive anyways.

Duh... I hear/read every few weeks about someone person in an accident or pulled over that has had a few DUI's.....Some jerk off got out of a DUI last week because he saw a DUI check point ahead of him, turned down a side street to get around it and the cops saw him do it and went after him and got him...Court said cops can not stop him for making a legal turn down a side street...That is BS....

ya know , i aint ever seen one of them drunk driver plates here in ohio, but after the third offense they take your liscence for life. we just had some kid , drunk , miss a curve hit a house , going through it, killing a 7 yr old girl. and critically injuring  her parents. about 5 miles from my place. so much for  drunk driving laws. charged with vehicular homicide. may get a few peoples attention when they have to many and drive.

If they wanted to take a chunk out of the drunk drivers issue, they could always start by getting rid of bar parking lots. ....2 drink bar limits unless you show proof of a designated driver.  there are a lot of ideas to 'prevent' the issue.

Lawmaker Wants Special Plates For DUI Offenders
POSTED: 5:29 pm PST November 15, 2005
UPDATED: 5:45 pm PST November 15, 2005

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- A Florida lawmaker wants convicted drunk drivers with restricted driving privileges to have to place bright pink license plates on their vehicles. And the first three letters on the plate would be: DUI.

State Sen. Mike Fasano said pink plates might embarrass drivers and make them think twice before they drive drunk. His plan would also allow police to pull over vehicles with pink plates even if officers don't have probable cause.

The group Mothers Against Drunk Driving supports the pink plate plan, but the ACLU said the plates might constitute cruel and unusual punishment.

Ohio and Michigan have similar laws.

It couldn't work in NM, with the first 3 characters "DUI" there wouldn't be enough numbers left for all the DUI's in this state.

Well remember the sheriff on AZ that made the prisoners wear pink drawers?

Empty has a point....new laws, mean more laws to break!  If you look at society now....and then think back to some of the crap we got away with.....well now days you would be in jail in a heartbeat!

Everyone is entitled to a mistake.....after that, its your own damn fault.

If they want to do pink plates.....fine, but after the second offense maybe.  AS I said everyone makes a mistake........but when it becomes a habit.....then they need to do something.

I understand your initial thoughts, but if that is allowed then why not chartreuse plates for anyone that has ever been caught speeding?  I think this is one of those scenarios where someone thinks 'adding one more law will change things'.  I remember back about 6 years ago where some idiot went to a church meeting over in Fort Worth and started shooting people. When it was all over with there were people stating 'we need a new law to....<insert redundancy here>'.   The guy broke 15 laws doing what he was doing, another law wouldn't have prevented it.

Since they don't seem to appreciate the money system in these here United States, perhaps he could just;

a. trade in goat skins and chicken beaks

b. go to some other country that has 'in Beelzebub we trust' on their money.

c. leave
