mike y , if they do pass the gun permit law in wisconsin , im sure as in ohio they will have a data base of somekind. here is the kicker on what the opponentes did in ohio. they gave  buisness the right to not allow anyone carrying a gun intotheir establishment. so now all the gas stations , dept stores , ect have these neat little signs that say no firearms permitted on our premises. so  really you can only protect yourself legally if your in your vehicle or walking down the street.

Litter Of Legless Puppies Born
HOLLISTER, Calif. -- Animal control officers in California are a little worried after they received two litters of puppies in the last couple of weeks that show signs of what they consider inbreeding.

Images

Some of the puppies were born with no front legs.

But one little pup doesn't seem to mind at all. She was seen playing with her mom like any other healthy, happy puppy.

With a tail that was constantly wagging, the happy little camper chased her momma and even leaped across the cage onto her momma.

This story has a very happy ending for all the puppies involved. They have all been adopted.

I have no problem at all with LEO's being able to determine if I am carrying or not...I would rather have safety on my side in terms of an unwanted confrontation...I think however..that being required to Disclose upon being pulled over is a better option than having my name in a data base that may in some point in time..be used to confiscate my weapon when the state decides that they want to enact some sort of totalitarian law against my particular choice of sidearm..The governor of this state will do his upmost at vetoing passage of the law anyhow..but the lawmakers say they have enuf votes to overide...We are keeping our fingers crossed that it makes its way into law this time around...JMHO

Restrictions Added To Concealed Carry Bill
Governor Vetoed Similar Bill In 2003

UPDATED: 9:56 am CST December 1, 2005

MADISON, Wis. -- The amended concealed carry bill approved by Wisconsin's Joint Finance Committee Wednesday includes new restrictions on where citizens would be able to bring concealed weapons.

The bill would allow people to carry hidden guns, knives and billy clubs, but the new restrictions would prohibit guns in hospitals, daycare centers, college campuses and youth sporting events.

The committee also barred intoxicated people from carrying weapons.

Earlier in the day, the committee also amended the bill to allow police officers access to a database that they could check during a traffic stop to see whether the driver had a permit to carry a concealed weapon.

....

The Conceal Carry Permit in the state of Texas is in legal database with our driver's license data.  As a Conceal Carry holder, I would receive a fine if I did not immediately disclose my carry permit at any time that I would get pulled over.  As a licensed conceal carry holder, we have the highest expectations of our behaviour.  I personally have no problem at all if an officer knows I have a license to carry a weapon, experience has taught me that he will know the training and classes I have taken and will respect me for them.

I think its probably a good idea for the cop to know.  If he just walked up and saw a weapon under your jacket etc. he might be tempted to protect himself in some physical way.

A second provision in the bill would prohibit officers from drawing their own guns on motorists simply because the motorists have a concealed-carry permit.

The amendments were added to satisfy the concerns that police lobbying organizations had with the bill. Officials with the State Trooper Association said that the group is now backing the plan because the bill will now allow law enforcement to access a list of permit-holders while conducting traffic stops, WISC-TV reported.

Supporters of the concealed-carry measure said that people should be allowed to shoot criminals who attack them. Opponents argue that the bill will only encourage gun violence and will leave people unsure of whether others around them are carrying hidden weapons.

Gov. Jim Doyle vetoed a similar bill in 2003 and his office said that he still opposes the one passed by the committee.

A Guy Who’s Got It All
‘American Chopper’ star Paul Teutel Sr. naturally owns dozens of motorcycles. But the bike builder is also a huge fan of classic cars.
WEB EXCLUSIVE
By Vanessa Juarez
Newsweek

Nov. 29, 2005 - For a guy who loves building motorcycles, collecting muscle cars and has a walrus mustache streaming across his face, you wouldn't think Paul Teutul Sr.'s favorite beverage would be club soda. But then again his favorite smell is glue. And his best memory is getting sober.

Teutul is the elder half of the father-son team on the Discovery Channel's "American Chopper," a series that goes behind the scenes at Orange County Choppers, a custom-made motorcycle company where films like "Easy Rider" and Marlon Brando's "The Wild One" inspire what many would call works of art. The show has been so successful for the last three seasons that the Teutuls have just signed a deal for four more years. Teutul Sr., 56, recently spoke to NEWSWEEK's Vanessa Juarez about his toys and whether he'll be giving any of them away for the holidays. Excerpts:

NEWSWEEK: What's in your driveway right now?
Paul Teutul Sr.: Oh geez. I don't know if we have enough time. I have an assortment of muscle cars. I have a '70 GTO, '69 Camaro 427, a 1969 442. I have a '41 Willies, a '33 Ford Hot Rod. I have a 1960 Corvette, 2006 Z06 Corvette—that's a 500 horsepower 'vette, a limited number are made. I have a Mercedes AMG 55, I have a 1970 396 Nova Supersport, I have a 1967 427 Shelby, a 427 Cobra, I have a '67 396 Chevy Nova.

You've been on Jay Leno, right? That must be all you guys talk about.
You know what? I haven't been on there in a while. I just started collecting muscle cars. But I was just on Donnie Deutsch recently. He came up and shot my collection for his show, so Jay may have seen some of them. But you can't compete with Jay Leno, he's the guru. He's got like 75,000 sq. feet of space for his [car] collection.

How long have you been collecting? That's quite an assortment.
I have been collecting for about a year. And then I have about 35 bikes. I built my own Senior Series, which are just old school bikes. I [put] a hologram [on it] and sign it. I have about 15 or 16 of those that are early 1970s bikes. I also have about 15 Harleys.

Are you planning on giving any of your choppers away as gifts?
Actually I'm building a Chopper right now for ... [NEWSWEEK doesn't want to spoil the recipient’s surprise].

What do you think are going to be some of the hottest motorcycle-related gifts for the holidays this year?
You know, the thing with motorcycles, it's hard to buy for people because they have their own style. The best things to give are leather jackets, helmets and chaps.

Is there anything you would like to see in your Christmas stocking—or in your driveway?
You know, you're talking to the guy who's got it all. I'm a real hard guy to buy for. You know, what people buy me is socks. And that's because I don't wear underwear [laughs]. Mikey [his son] got me like 24 dozen pairs of socks last year.

Why's that? Do your toes poke through that easily?
Nah, because he's an idiot.

For the do it yourselfers out there, do you have any recommendations for parts shops or Web sites that might be helpful?
You know, every bike builder in the world offers something. It depends. If you want to build a chopper, call us. You know, I don't think there's a lot of that available [on the net]. Usually if you buy a kit you buy that directly from the shop and they have the information.

If somebody were to call you right now and say, "Paul, I need to get my husband a chopper for Christmas." Is it too late?
You know what, I can make anything happen I want to happen. If I'm enthusiastic about it, I'll do it. Generally our wait is around 20 weeks. They start at $40k but most spend between $55k and $175k. Businesses use the bigger, more expensive bikes as marketing tools.

What about gift certificates? Does Orange County Choppers have those?
Nah. But it's not a bad idea though. If somebody came in saying they wanted to do that, we'd help them out.

What do you think some of the trends for 2006 will be?
You know, that's kind of hard to say because I think that the motorcycle industry peaked, and now I think it's coming back down. It's just like any other trend, everybody floods the market and everybody comes out of the woodwork. But I think the [shops] that are established will be more innovative, more creative. I see the trend going back to the earlier choppers, like the ‘70s-style choppers. Those are the style bikes that are coming back. You know, it's a cycle.

It seems like you'd be able to get your hands on anything. Is there any sort of limited edition vehicle that you'd like to have?
Yeah, I'd like to have a '64 or '65 GTO, which are hard to come by. Also a '70 Hemi Cuda. Right now the price on those is ridiculous.

Legislator Seeks Creation Of Wisconsin Aerospace Authority
Developer: Sheboygan Well-Suited For Launch Pad

UPDATED: 8:19 am CST November 29, 2005

MADISON, Wis. -- It would be one small step for Sheboygan, one giant leap for Wisconsin.

A state legislator is proposing a Wisconsin Aerospace Authority that he said would attract federal aid for a potential launch pad at Sheboygan. The site would launch commercial satellites, rockets bound for the international space station and tourist spaceships.

State Sen. Joe Leibham said that he knows people are initially skeptical of the idea, but he said that they come around when they learn the space tourism industry alone could enjoy revenue of $1 billion a year by 2020.

George French is the president of Rocketplane, a firm developing a spaceship. French said that rockets and shuttles tend to launch east over large bodies of water, which makes Sheboygan, on the western shore of Lake Michigan, well-suited for a spaceport.
Actually the closer to the equator the better, which puts Sheboygan a bit north.  Here in NM at Los Cruces, they actually have a spaceport designated and in fact had a big hoo hoo at the LC airport this summer with several space transport/rocketship/ propeller head types in attendance.  With White Sands Missile Range down there there appears to be plenty of room.

Emirates Arrest Dozens At 'Mass Homosexual Wedding'
Government May Inject Men With Male Hormones

POSTED: 10:00 am PST November 29, 2005

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- Washington has condemned the United Arab Emirates' arrest of more than two dozen gays at what police called a mass homosexual wedding and warned that any attempt to treat detainees with male hormones would violate international law.

Police raided a hotel chalet near Abu Dhabi earlier this month and arrested 22 Emirati men and three Arabs from neighboring countries, the Interior Ministry said Saturday. Police reported finding a dozen men dressed as brides and a dozen others in male Arab dress, apparently preparing for a mock marriage ceremony.

The authorities said the detainees, some of whom had been arrested before, are likely to be tried on charges related to adultery and prostitution. They also said the men would be tested for male-hormone levels and could possibly face government-ordered hormone injections.

In criticizing the arrests, U.S. State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said in a statement Monday: "We call on the government of the United Arab Emirates to immediately stop any ordered hormone and psychological treatment and to comply with the standards of international law."

An Interior Ministry official close to the investigation told The Associated Press on Tuesday that hormones would be given only with the suspects' consent -- either as a sentence-reduction option if found guilty in court or voluntarily before trial.

Outward homosexual behavior is banned in the United Arab Emirates and most other Arab countries.

The arrested men were undergoing psychological evaluation last week. The Interior Ministry's department of social support has said it would try to direct the men away from homosexual behavior, including recommending male hormone treatment if the men are found to be deficient.

Also Tuesday, an Abu Dhabi police officer confessed to improperly releasing pictures of the detainees, said the Interior Ministry official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to give press statements.

Local newspapers have published grainy photos of the suspects, showing some of the "brides" wearing sleeveless dresses and what appeared to be wigs and kneeling at the feet of the "grooms."

The officer would probably stand trial and could lose his job, the official said.
