| The big thing now for dealers is to sell the used bikes over seas. With the dollar has weak has it is compared to the Euro and the other countries Harleys are now a bargain for them. So the over seas dealers are buying all they can from the US dealers down here The big Harley boom that started here in the mid 90's and died in 2003 here is now happening across the pond. Plus customs are big over there now too.............But from what I hear that baggers are not selling over there like they do here......Thats why there are so many in the dealers showrooms down here and very few or the softails or Dyna's.......

Those things ain't movin' at all...
But, a 3-year old bike with 20K on it and they're askin' $16k for it? I don't know if they expect to sell 'em or just display 'em for awhile... I'd definitely buy a new one before paying $16k for a used one......lol!

| I guess I'm about to find out about how good the used bike market is.... A friend of mine wants to park his '03 Ultra-Glide out front of my place here along this busy stretch of highway for sale. He says it books for $15k.. Its got 29,000 miles on it. Alot of chrome, but I personly told him don't look to get that for it. I'd say he'll be lucky to get $12,500. for it...

Haven't heard anything like that here...
Market is full of used bikes. Prices have dropped a lot.
But, the local indy I deal with, is contracted with some company in England to build 2 choppers. If they are well recieved, there will be 50 more (4 a month) The basic bike he's building would cost about $20k out the door. Dollar is down compared to the Euro, so they're comin' to the states to have choppers built. And with the dollar being worth about 60-cents compared to the Euro, makes it a damn cheap way to get a nice chopper...

I was told in the midwest that used bikes are going for a premium, and the stealers can't maintain a stock. A guy I work with just got a 2k premium for his bike on a trade in!
Anybody else here this? I was told "da canadians" are invading because of the weak dollar.
Maybe my shovel sporty is a hidden retirement account???
