SOmehow with all the screwing around I been doing....I missed the continuation of this post.   Gina?  Have you thought about possibly setting up a free website.....explaining the situation, and adding a simple paypal donation button?  This would allow people that are spread all over the US, and unable to come to a ride, to contribute something.

Somtimes the click of a button is easier than sticking a stamp on an envelope...ya know?  ;)

Just a thought.

I do know that Rusty was associated and occasionally went to the Monks clubhouse in Pasadena, CA. I never went there myself, but Olga and Hellen both did and they ARE looking into that.

Another thing I remembered last night was that when I first met Rusty she lived in a mobile home on the property of a local Harley shop named "House of Choppers". It was on Motor Ave in Azusa. The owners name was Bob Barry. He sold his shop (or closed it because it's no longer a motorcycle shop) a few years back. Hellen has been in contact with him, but apparently he is ill and now resides in a semi-retirement home although I don't recall what his illness is.

Thanks for getting back in touch with me Dave. I thought this ride was over after reading the replies yesterday.

As far as favorite charity, it would definitely be the "Facial-Cranial Disease organization which is what Rocky suffered from. As far as any money in excess of what it takes to take care of Rusty we are definitely on the same page.

Gina, thanks for the info...

Question, do you or does either Olga or the niece that you mention, know if Rusty had any club ties of any sort. For instance, Hells Angels, Mongols, Hessians, etc. All are in the area and have been for many years.(along with a few other clubs) If so, we might try contacting them also.

Some other things to add to the list of things to be considered,

1 - Starting point?

2 - Ending point?

3 - The actual route

4 - What to do with any funds in excess of what is needed to take care of Rusty. Did she have a favorite charity?

Now, those are simple questions. But, at the same time, they do need consideration.

I met a few bikers through Rusty. One of them had power of attorney to take care of things while she was recovering. As soon as she passed the power of attorney ended. I only know him by Sleepy and he lives in the Riverside area. He unfortunately was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer and just this past Saturday had his prostate removed. He is in the veteran's hospital in Loma Linda, Ca.

Another friend named Becky moved to 1000 Palms, CA about 1.5 years ago. She is going to trailer her Harley to my house the night before so that she can go on the ride.

Also you may want to consider that Rusty was 70 years old when she died. I think many of her friends that she had ridden with previously have also passed away.

Personally I only rode with Rusty when it was just her and I and often she had a friend named Olga Robbins or her niece riding in the back.

As for where "every biker she ever knew" has gone I can not personally speak to that. I can only let you know whose still around and most of them don't ride.

I appreciate your two cents... but the only thing that's not right in this whole situation is that Rusty Tullis is still in the L.A. County morgue.

I would also like to take this opportunity to make a correction as far as the day Rusty died. On the photograph that I originally uploaded I had October 2006 as her month and year of death.

Rusty actually died on November 11, 2006 in Beverly Hospital in Montebello, CA at approximately 12:45a.m I know this for a fact because I was there with Rusty's niece Hellen Cunningham who I drove there, Olga Robbins, Carol Vega, Sleepy and Diane Duarte.

Rusty's sister Dorothy was in the hospital and I drove her niece (Dorothy's daughter) to the hospital early Saturday morning to break the news to her.

There was a lot of controversy surrounding Rusty's death but the day she was rushed to Beverly hospital she had been residing at Rio Hondo Rehabilitation center for about three weeks. She was suppose to learn to walk again. She had pins and a plate in one leg and pins in the other leg.

She was rushed to emergency about 1:30 on Friday afternoon after a week of complaining about severe stomach cramps.

When we arrived Friday evening (immediately after I got off work) we were ushered into a small private conference room to wait for the doctor. He spoke to us ( Hellen, Olga & myself) for about 10 minutes. He said her blood pressure had dropped to 50 over zero. He said they tried rescucitating her for 10 minute before they were able to get a blood pressure reading. When we were allowed to go in and see here she had a machine inflating her lungs and dopamine running in her to elevate her blood pressure to 50 over 20. She also had a tube coming from her nose which looped down nearly to the floor then raised back up behind her bed to a container on a shelf. It appeared to be draining blood as the large, clear coffee size container was probably 2/3 full.

I called the nurse over to ask where the blood was coming from. She said they where pumping it from her stomache. I said I didn't see a pump & she corrected herself by saying they where draining it from her stomach. That's alot of bleeding considering the blood had to travel about 4.5 feet straight up from it's lowest point in the tube.

I originally contacted lawyers via the internet for Rusty's sister and family. Several responded knowing it would strictly be on a contingency basis. However Rusty's sister who I mentioned was in the hospital is progressively becoming more ill. She has cancer. About 6 weeks ago she had a colon bag attached and has been in & out of the hospital. Rusty was going to give bone marrow & of course that is no longer possible. Anyway because of Dorothy's illness being so advanced she decided not to persue any legal action. She felt like she's in a fight for her life & I can attest to that. I've actually known her much longer than I knew Rusty. She is a decent woman & under different circumstances would have done everything for Rusty. She simply just isn't able to.

Rusty's niece Hellen does not work. She lives with Dorothy although she was close to Rusty she is not able to help.

I think that gives you more than the general public's view on what has transpired.

As for me... I will not quit until Rusty is taken care of. That's why I'm here.

If you have any other questions I will be happy to answer those I can and seek the answers of those I do not know.

I hope this alleviates some of your concerns.

Thanks for taking the time to ask.

Gina

I gotta ad my .02 cents in here.............I hope I am wrong.

She hung around bikers all her life. Where are these bikers now? Bikers dont just abandon thier own, especially in time of death. Something just aint sounding right about all this.

A couple of other thoughts came to mind this morning.

- Might want to try to contact Eric Stoltz and Sam Elliot. See if they'd be interested in participating. Think of the people that Sam Elliot would draw out of the woodwork! LOL...

- Also, need to think about a liability waiver. The riders would be responsible for themselves and their bikes. Not the "Run". Don't want to have to get into any litigation over some newbie that don't know how to ride in a pack (or at all) and crashes his/her new bike...

I'll make what ever day it is on work. I can juggle my schedule pretty easily. I haven't heard anything from anyone else yet. I'll post the info here and send ya an email. (Keep the folks here in the loop)

This is a great site. I've been here for over 3 years and the people are great. I'm proud to be a part of it.

Dave,

Can you let me know what weekend days are good for you? Your idea so I want to make sure you're available.

As soon as we can set a tennative date, Rusty's niece Hellen is going to call the Director of Mask. She has spoken with him on several occasions since Rusty passed away.

We are going to ask him to contact Cher to see if she would consider riding with us. Just having her along would get the attention to make this a huge success!

I tried contacting her through her web-site... but not all websites are as responsive as this one! You all ought to be really proud of that!

Any way get back to me with any preferences as to date as soon as possible.

Thanks,

Gina

One more thing,

I also contacted the local chapter of "Bikers For Christ", an international Christian Bike club/organization. Gina, I copied you on the email...

Ok, I've started looking for some help on the situation. I belong to several "Biker" boards and one is a pretty large on here in Southern California. I've posted a thread on a couple looking for help and suggestions. I've never set up a run before. So, this is all new to me also.

As for the idea of a benefit ride, I think that we'd probably have to get in contact with a local business. I'm thinking either Laidlaw's Harley Davidson in Baldwin Park or maybe on the small independent shops locally. I'm on very good terms with Villain's Custom Cycle in Pasadena. So, I can talk to Jose on Monday and see if he will get involved.

I thinking about contacting the local H.O.G. Chapter to see what they have to say also. They may be willing to jump in and run with it.

Hi Everyone!

I want to thank all of you for your kind replies and emails regarding Rusty Tullis.

I took all of your suggestions and offerings of help over to Rusty's family last night. Rusty's sister is very ill and I know it gave her a lift when I told her that with help from this web site we might be able to lay Rusty to rest.

So now for the planning. I personally have never done anything like this. I would appreciate any suggestions for setting up a Memorial Ride.

I guess the first step is 1.) When and the second step... 2) where?

Any preferences or ideas? Also how do we go about contacting other groups? This is the first "Biker" website I've ever registered on... but by far my very favorite!

In the mean time I'm leaving you with a picture of Rusty on her Harley Trike. This picture was taken about 5 years ago give or take. She's about 65 in this picture.

Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you!

Stick around for a bit there SILVER N BLACK V TWIN...

What can I or the group do to help? I'm sure that you've got a few ideas of your own. If we can work something out to make things right for Rusty, let me know what you have in mind.

I didn't know her personally and I had no idea that she still hadn't been taken care of. But, that don't matter now. Let's make something happen...

Hell, shoot me an email - dmiller@altrionet.com

Welcome to the board neighbor! Azusa is just just a hop, skip and a jump from here, maybe 5 miles. Why not put together a memorial ride for her? She's well known, I'm sure that there are plenty of locals that would pitch in to help make things right...

Hey All!

I was a close friend of Rusty's for about 14 years. My heart is very sad in that she is no longer here AND that she is still here!

The reason Rusty remains at the coroner's still... (today is THREE MONTHS) is that her family does not have the money nor the drive to get it anywhere. Some of us have tried, but the reporter at the tribune who was suppose to help us set up a memorial fund interviewed us and reported on the story that Rusty was still at the morgue rather than what he was suppose to do and that was to help us set up a memorial fund for her.

I was with Rusty the night she died... She was bleeding internally and she should have never gotten into the condition she was in when she was rushed to Beverly Hospital. By then it was too late.

It's way past the point of whose fault, we just need to lay her to rest! She would not have left a single soul laying in the morgue for three months! She just had much more class and character than those that are now leaving her there!

Any thoughts of helping us out...
