actually jeff  they breath through the push rod tubes into  the heads. then it  vents  into the carb  through those rubber tubes . i replaced  that shit  with a screamin eagle  kit  on mine   dont have  to buy  air filters all the time  the  screamin eagle  filter is wasable . wasn,t sure  what yr they went  to the cv.s. either  the guy who had it  wanted more ass if  he replaced  the pistons,  or he had a major problem with it :?

I read on another forum Weasle that in '90 HD went to the CV carb.. There to I read '91-up are head breathers and breathe thru the backing plate mounting bolts.

Thanks Weas for the info....I will find out if this 91 EG has a CV or not... They said it had new Wisco pistons too. Seems strange at 9000 miles someone would replace the pistons - the sales guy said it showed compression of 140

jeff  its true  evo,s have a  problem with base gaskets  , but in a way its avoiadable , you need to let  that engine warm up a bit before ya take off, ive got 63k on my 94 and the base gaskets  dont  even weep .they are also prone  to leaking  around  the rocker  boxes  ive  replaced  those  gaskets  twice  before  going  to jimms  gaskets  havent  replaced  them in  3 yrs .that yr  if im not mistaken  does,nt have  the  cv carb (i may be wrong on that )if it doesn,t  slap one on it if you can find one cheap  they are  100% better  than the butterfly carbs   that came on those bikes .ps  that  ev 27 is a good cam  for  the 80 inchers, only bad thing ive heard is it wears  the lifters  quicker  than a stock  cam .

I've never owned an Evo Dave.  Are they oil tight for the most part ?  Weasle would be able to answer this too....  I read one blog that someone wrote, that they are prone to leaking oil around the base gaskets... Is that true ?  Or probably just one guys misfortune ?

One thing great I like about Evo's they have a gear drive cam instead of chain drives as in the TC's.

Found a dandy '91 ( yep its 21 yrs old ) Electraglide. but in A1 condition. 9200 original miles... Bright Red, lots of chrome. NEW Ev27 Cam - just installed. Stock exhaust opened up a bit... Sounds good, lopes a bit with the new cam. Tax and everything $8700. Alot for a 91. But above average condition for sure....Nice...

A bit pricey like you said. But, nice. With the EV27 cam, that thing will go pretty damned good. Had the same cam put in my bike when I had the engine rebuilt. Ran STRONG! I loved it!

Now my wife is telling me she wants another Dresser. So no use putting more money in the Dyna. More to follow.. I would have to sell it before buying another FL.

Might as well change out the bearings while you're in there.

Cool thing is when Marc mailed me his old chain drive SE cams he sent along the bearings, lifters and all out of his bike which at the time when he took em out and switched to gear drives only had 14k miles... I may used all of it..

I may be wrong but it may be a lot easier to use adjustable pushrods and i'm not sure if if the stock pushrods will work anyway...When I had those cams put in back in 04 they did not use the stock pushrods...I think they are around $130.00...There is also a cam installation kit...

Here in the next week or two I'm gonna replace my stock cam with the hotter chain drive se's I got from Marc a year or so ago. Reason ?, I wanta take off my cam cover anyway to ck the condition of the cam tentioners - so a great time to change to the hotter cam, and put in some fresher lifters at the same time. Got 54,000. miles on the bike. Not going to replace the stock push rods, gonna just undo the rocker box's and take em out from the top. Only thing I am going to have to puchase is possibly a new set of tentioners and some new gaskets.
