It works.... I used to have a split in between the rider and passenger seat I kept a small screw driver to jump off the solenoid on my Shovel.. I was always havin' relays goin bad there fore a while and it was because the relay would short out when it got wet. I started using electronic lithium grease in between the relay switch to keep out the water and never had any more problems-- Hung my screw driver starter back up on the wall. LOL!!

Here's a version that another guy I know is using. Only starter button he's got on his shovel...

Thanks Steve...LOL
Nope... No need. I've had that bent piece of feeler gage on there for over a year. No problems with it getting caught on anything, or anything getting caught on it.
One of these days, I'll splurge and buy a new relay. But, until then, this works like a charm!

When I rewired, I did wire in the Start/Kill switches. But, I've got a bad starter relay. So, this has graduated to the primary way of startin' my bike.
It's a piece of .050" feeler gage out of a pack of gages. I have never had a need to use that one. So, here's a place where it gets used all the time. The neat thing is, it was already drilled to the perfect size! All I had to do was put a couple of bends in it and trim it off. Only takes a couple of minutes and didn't cost me a thing!
Uhhh Dave ....you want me to mail you a relay???? That kind of stuff always bites me in the ass some how when I do it.....With my luck something would get caught up in there and set the damn bike on fire........LOL

But, when the switches were screwed up, this sure came in handy a couple of times... hell dave , you aint lazy lot a work to rig that feeler gage up , me im lazy , id a used a screw driver to start it. LOL. I hate diggin' into my tool bag any more than I have to. Gettin' a screw driver out is a PITA. LOL...
The old switches were hit or miss on the starter button. Sometimes the kill switch acted like it was the problem.
This took me about 10 minutes, cost me nothing to make, a snap to install and it has worked EVERY TIME!
Can't say that about a relay or a switch...

Lot better'n them Fred Flintstone back brakes he used to have. Honestly it's been kinda fun seeing ole Dave do all these little one-offs over the last couple of years. LMAO!!!
Hey, I'm just glad that someone is getting something out of some of my "Science Projects".
