Thanks Janoman....

Problem is solved. Actually turned into a pretty strange situation...

Since its tubeless, I don't mess with changing it. Awhile back, I had the indy replace the tire. My bike was down on and off for awhile and when I did start riding it again regularly, the valve stem started leaking. So, I had them fix it. They replaced the valve stem. Held air, so no problem right?

Well, a month or so goes by and I'm ridin' home from work and get this really, really (I mean REALLY) bad bouncing sensation out of the rear wheel. Manged to get the bike home, pulled the rear wheel and hauled it into the indy. We spent a couple of hours working on it. Removed and replaced the wheel bearings, races, seals, reset the preload, the whole 9-yards. Took, if I remember right, about 13 ounces and it still wouldn't balance. Thats when I said fuck it, lets break this tire down and see what's happening inside there...

The real problem was finally "Discovered" and as it turns out, the indy had some pretty sketchy folks workin' in there about the time I had the tire done, one of 'em had put a tube in the tire and it had split in half...

That's where the bouncing came from. The initial leak was when the valve stem tore loose from the tube. Here's that URL...

Thanks everyone...

FWIW: That slime stuff is essential if you have a 4 wheeler.  I run it in my 4 wheeler, dolly, and riding mower ...all of which have steel wheels.

Dave:

I used PJ-1 balancer in my wheels...ate the aluminum terrible.  If you can get the tire "de-mounted"...take the valve stem out, use some 400 grit wet on the sealing area, before you put the stem back in, put a dab of bead sealant (tire stores have it, might give you just a little)  then put it back together.  Lot of work, but should fix the problem.

PS I've also heard from other guys that slime degrades with heat and shouldn't be used on tires that will maintain high speeds........I don't fuck around with tires, thats the only thing between you and the road....................

Based on Empty reminding me of the previous thread (somewhere) that you stated that, I'm just gonna take it in and have if fixed right...

Guess its probaly better to be safe than sorry and just take it in and have the valve stem replaced...
I looked back and didn't find it, I asked this question in here before and the only answer that has not been repeated is Steve's comment 'paraphrased' "heard the stuff was corosive to mag wheels".

Yup...I use it...never had a problem...They make it for tube and tubeless tires...Dave, I do not know if will fix your particular problem as it is a rubber sealant for punctures...You may be better off having the valve stem replaced...

I've got a leak between the rim and a valve stem. (OEM HD Mag) I can't tighten it up to make it stop. Debating whether to use that green stuff called "Slime" or to take it in and have it repaired.

Has anyone used Slime?

Would you use it for something like this or take it in?

I've got, what looks like a lot of miles left on the tire, and I ain't sure what would be the most feasible way to go...
