Well crap...
Half the parts order came in, half didn't. Got the tire and master-cylinder kit. No cables until Tuesday. No tax and a 25-percent discount from the indy for payin' with cash. :D

Got a start on the wiring yesterday. Ended up feeling like crap about noon and pulled the plug on the fun. (I've been up for a few minutes now and I'm ready to go back to bed) Head-light is back on and wired, still have to work through the ignition.

I ditched the speedo and tach. Might rethink that too. But, it does look a bit cleaner without. I'd love to shave that funky dash off the tank too. But, that's gotta wait until the next time it gets painted. Fuel gage hasn't worked for a long time...

Thanks Preacher, that sounds like it might work. I've got the line running as close to the bars as I possibly can...

Dave:
you can make "standoffs" to hold the line, using some clear plastic tubing from Homer Depot. Get a foot of 1/4 inch ID plastic. Cut a piece about 1/4 inch long. Run a wire tie through it, around the brakeline, back through the tubing, then pull it around the bar and fasten it. The line is now anchored to the plastic, which is anchored to the bar by the wiretie. Cut the long end off, and turn the fastener up towards the plastic and yer done.

Lots prettier to look at than to explain.

ok gotcha . could run just rubber through the bars  from the m  cyl down to the split  for the brakes ?? make a rubber gromit   or silly cone the shit out of it where it passes in and out of the bars.

Weasle & Jeff...
This ain't for the wiring. This is for a 3/16ths steel brake line that I have running from the master-cylinder to the top tree...

I do know what you're talking about though. Those "doo-hickeys" that you put into a hole. I don't know if they'd be much better than the tie-wraps.

Still gotta get some holes drilled in the bars. But, I'm not in a big hurry for that part. Something I do wanna get down though...

Wires ties are about the simplest and effective way to secure your wires to the handle bars.  Another idea,  Harley sells what comes std on all FX series models,  which is the wire inserts, which require a couple holes drilled in your bars.  I know you've seen em the end is pointed and just inserts into the hole and hold the wire or cable at the opposite end.   But in my opinion a good black zip tie snipped off at the end looks just about as clean.   Drilling a couple holes would be easy too though and those cable inserts don't cost much at the stealer either...     Always good to have an option huh!  LOL!

Ok, It's Saturday and like I said before, I've got the brake line completed. Don't look too shabby at all with the brass fittings. Only issue I have with it is, securing the line to the bars. Not real fond of the white nylon tie-wraps I'm using right now. Would love to find something a bit cleaner. No chrome crap either. Just something nice and clean. I'll figure something out for that eventually. But for now, I guess the tie-wraps are gonna have to work.

New black switches and housings have been shipped. Should have them sometime next week. So, I'm gonna sorta stay with what's on the bike for wiring. I'm planning on replacing it all. But, the stuff that came from the factory is gonna stay. Light switches, horn, start, kill, etc. Just gonna try to clean it up as much as possible and get that bird's nest out of the head-light housing.

The original switch housings are gutted out and mounted on the bars to get the clutch lever and brake master cylinder located where they're supposed to be. I'm still hopin' to find a way to drill the bars and run the wires inside. I have a few different drill motors around here. Just need to locate a chuck key and get a few small files for deburring the inside of the holes.

Hope to get some work done on it today. At least make it ridable again. New cables installed and wiring sorted out and ready for the new switches. I figure I can hook the wiring in with a minimum amount of stuff working to at least get a quick ride around the block to see what I think about the new bars. I don't need the starter button right away. Just need a hot lead to the ignition system.

The OEM horn is under the seat, forward of the rear wheel, behind the battery. POS location that's for sure...

No pictures until I'm finished. LMAO!

Things ain't too pretty right now. Headlight is torn apart and there's an Octopus of wires hanging everywhere...

Nice horn...Probably louder than the POS horn that came with my bike... I'm looking for a louder horn that does not require an air compressor like Revco...

This is the like the horn I've been usin' for a couple of years now. So, that switch really ain't an issue! LMAO!

I've gotta sort through what I really wanna have for electrical. I've also gotta sort through about a dozen different wiring diagrams to determine exactly what I wanna do with the electrical. OEM? Stripped of all nonessentials? Hell, I don't know yet. I'll figure it out Tomorrow. Thanks for the offer, I think one of 'em is one that you sent me awhile back...

The bars are on. I had to use the short risers. Between the flex (Serious Flex) and the height, (The short ones worked out great!!) Plus, with the other risers, the bars felt like they were about 8-inches above my shoulders.

Had to order new throttle and clutch cables. Throttle fit fine. But, it was for an "FX" not an "FXR". Only real difference I could see, the FX uses a 45-degree bend and the FXR uses a 90 degree. Length-wise, it was fine. But, there was a pretty bad crack in the elbow.

The clutch cable was just plain short by about 4-inches. I tried rerouting it a couple of different ways. No dice...

Was able to run the brake line using 3/16ths hard line. I ran it to the bottom of the top tree, SS flex from there to the "T" at the bottom of the bottom tree. I was even able to use the line I had on the bike.

I need both...

14-years bad luck...

Thanks Anyway Jeff...

Throttle cable works. No change on it. Damned if the batteries on the 19.2 Volt drill are shot. No drill motor. So, I may not be hidin' the wires. Crap...
