Lets see... Yeah, I "Believe" that you weren't bein' a smart-ass...LOL...

This is what's kickin' my butt Jeff, small shit like this.

Engine, trans, ignition, tires, brakes, wheel bearings, cables, wiring, charging system, etc. All taken care of in the past few years.

I've basically gone through about 90-percent of the bike since I've had it.

About the only thing I "thought" I really "needed" to do anything with, is the forks.

And the damned coil (less than a year old) takes a dump??? WTF??? Another set-back I gotta deal with...

Its frustrating. But, that's all part of it...

Sorry Dave, wasn't trying to be a smart ass. Yeah right!  LOL!    but I was thinking well you got the motor all rebuilt,  got new bars on looking good.   Can't be much wrong with it right?  Or did I miss something?

LOL... Nope...

I'm tryin' to beat that price that Steve gave me on eBay. Or at least hit close from a local...

Soonest that I could get one would be Monday. But, if the price is close? I'll go with the local...

I know what you're saying, I agree with ya. But, ya gotta remember Weasle...
I'm runnin' an after-market single-fire ignition.
You're runnin' the (OEM) dual-fire ignition.

There is some difference when you start trouble shooting.

I got two coils to worry about. You've got one.
If your coil goes bad, it won't hit on either cylinder.

On mine, if a coil goes bad, the good coil will still fire one cylinder...

it probably is the coil , and your  probably doing the right thing in replacing it , but when mine started with the running on 1 cyl cold  and then running ok after it got  warmed up first thing i suspected was the coil , didnt turn out that way. let us know what ya make out  and what ya did to get er right. or at least me , aint to many evo guys on here .

cant really check them for heat. the one i had go bad just quit like i turned off the key . 5 min later it started and ran for 5 min and quit again. had nothing to either plug when it would quit and i tried to restart . but mine was a dual fire , single fire may act differently. but i would look beyond the coil for ya spring for a new coil. One housing, two individual coils inside. Compact Low-Cost (to produce) unit.
But, the same idea Weasle. In this case, front cylinder is dead. (dual-fire, both would be dead)

Talked to the gear-heads and electrical engineers here at work, my own experience, Steve, Marc, the Indy...

And based on the numbers my meter is givin' me...

Everyone is sayin' the same thing...

That a coil took a dump...

I don't know about the heat, I didn't check it.

But, I rode it about 20-25 miles on Saturday.

Went to take it out on Sunday and I was only running on the rear cylinder.

Seriously, after what I went through with the alternator on my old Nissan truck?
I don't trust them to test a light bulb...

dave try autozone or some such place to check your coil, they have a machine  that can test them , usually do it for nothing . had mine checked at auto pro when i was having issues with the cam sensor.

Hey Dave I think your coils got a shorted winding.......Both sections should red close to the same................but .4 ohms is way low for an electronic ignition. .4 would be low even for a points coil...........Yeah, my thoughts exactly Steve. I was lookin' for confirmation before I go and spend more $$ on a new coil or set of coils...

Thanks!!

Dave Try this...I buy stuff from these guys all the time....
