$36.00 isn't too bad. Take a look at what Snap On is asking for one that you have to pull the bearings out to use...

To me, it's part of getting a tire changed

I always pack 'em and I don't get over 8,000 on a tire! Just put some good bearing grease on one palm and work the grease in the bearing with the other like patting your palm with the bearing only the grease is in the way, rotating until you see all new grease. I softens the hands too

Anybody had a high mileage issue with wheel bearings? Don't hear much about it in the Auto world......
I have always been a little bit of an overcompensator when it comes to grease, probably from growing up on a ranch and hay farm. It's not like it's gonna take a whole day out of your life to just put a little grease in there.
I came across this in the latest easyriders, never actually seen one work though. http://www.mcadvantages.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=cProducts.view&productid=1252
That would be a fine little tool looks to me like to have in the tool box. If it were on Ebay I would bid maybe $12. for it but $36. seems a little steep..
