I'm thinkin' that you're more stress on the clutch with the higher gear (5th) trying to pull the weight of the bike + my fat ass + wind resistance.

It probably gonna take more than taking off from a dead stop...

if its slippin bad you,d know it when ya left the line dave, dont know if yours is like mine but loosen the nut under the darbe cover on the clutch (ectect)per the manual , squeese the clutch handle 3 times and she should adjust .Don't remember it acting like it was slipping coming off the line. Seems to hook up real good. Just felt sorta funny over 4000 rpm in 5th gear. Been a long, long time since I've had it there...

Yeah, that's sorta what I figured I'd do. Didn't really pay attention yesterday in city traffic. I wasn't on it very hard. Only nailed it on the freeway when I was running speeds below 75 pushed it to 90 or 95 mph...

Ride around at 5-15 mph in and hit the throttle hard...You should hear it and feel it if it is slipping...

Great Marc. I rode it to work yesterday. Ran really good. I'm impressed with the performance and how quick it spools up!

One of the best things, I ain't used a drop of oil! I checked it yesterday when I filled up with gas and it was still full from the 500 mile oil change. I used to have to add a quart when I filled up with gas...

Only thing I have a concern with is the clutch. I mentioned that it spools up really quick. But, I ain't real sure of its the moving as fast or the clutch is slipping. I've got to ride it a little more...

Interesting question Jeff, Is my bike male or female?

Takes my money, just like a woman,
Takes my time, just like a woman,
Always naggin' at me for something, just like a woman,

Should I go on? LMAO!

Anyway, I did my 500 miles, just like I was instructed by the indy. Easy, low speed stuff. Started out for about 400 miles at not more than 3000 rpm.

Then, I went another 100 miles or so, keepin' it below 3500 rpm.

Christmas day was the first time I had it up to 4000 rpm.

Yesterday, was the first time I took it close to redline! Damn!!!

Hard launch from a green light, hit second and the front tire was off the ground!

But, I never went over 90 mph...LOL...

Next thing I gotta do is save up enough for a trip to the dyno...

Is your bike a "she" or a "he" Dave? or neither??  :D  Until you tell me different I'll refer to your FXR as a she.  Preacher is the only biker I have ever known to have a he bike. LOL!  Anyway,  glad to hear she's runnin good and that you can let her eat now!     I can't wait to road test my new cams... Mid 40's tomorrow... If I can find enough warm gear to put on-- I may have to take'r out for a stretch just to satisfy my curiosity.. lol!

One more thing to add...  I gotta friend who in 1983 bought the first reintroduced new 883 - I'm simply saying that because Sportsters were 900's in the 60's. Anyway,  never forget this...  He rode it home 75 mph straight from the show room... Bragged about how he broke it in hard and ran it hard... Well it started smokin' pretty bad about 7500 miles later.. LMAO!  Maybe he should of at least let the rings seat for a 100 miles or so.....

I started runnin' it up to 4000 rpm on Christmas Day. Until then, I kept it below 3500, even then, I slowly worked it up to 3500...

Pulled like a mule at when I hit it hard though. Can't wait to see what it will really do...
